Emoji Tag Sequence
Emoji Tag Sequences are a mechanism which allow a series of characters to describe or create a new format of emoji.
These tags are comprised of a Black Flag emoji followed by a series of Tag Characters. Tag Sequences are only currently used for subdivision flag support to support subregions or subdivisions specified under ISO 3166-2.
All ISO 3166-2 codes are valid sequences for the purpose of emoji flag display, should vendors wish to support any.
As of 2020, subdivision flags which are supported by major vendors are:
- đ´ó §ó ˘ó Ľó Žó §ó ż England
- đ´ó §ó ˘ó łó Łó ´ó ż Scotland
- đ´ó §ó ˘ó ˇó Źó łó ż Wales
- đ´ó ľó łó ´ó ¸ó ż Texas
These tag sequences are all RGI (recommended for general interchange) with the exception of the Texas flag emoji, which is only supported by WhatsApp.
